Under current health orders, private health care providers are not required to be fully immunized against COVID-19, but that will change soon.

“We are currently working with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, as well as other health regulatory colleges, to develop policies to ensure that anyone providing medical care in British Columbia is vaccinated.” , according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

“Implementing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies for healthcare workers has been a step-by-step process, which began with the most at-risk areas of long-term care homes and assisted living facilities. , and now the broader health hospitals and community care sector. ”

The ministry works with health professional authorities to assess the immunization status of health care professionals and to develop policies to ensure that they are fully immunized. The new ordinance will be issued once those details are determined, according to the ministry.

Bethany Benoit-Kelly, senior director of communications at the College of Dental Surgeons in British Columbia, said by email that the provincial health officer has confirmed that all regulated health professionals, including oral health professionals -dental, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The provincial health official’s office has confirmed that all regulated health care professionals, including all oral health professionals, and unregulated staff in their offices or businesses, will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID. -19 to protect patients.

“We expect these requirements and the timetable for implementation to be defined in detail in a new public health order,” she said.
