Ashghal completes major works at Al Khor health center

(MENAFN – The Peninsula) Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) completed the main works of the Al Khor health center, carried out by the Department of Construction Projects to serve around 600 visitors per day, as part of of the State plan for the development of health services.

Al Khor Health Center is located on an area of ​​25,000 m2, comprising a two-level main building that includes 40 clinics, as well as other health facilities such as laboratory, pharmacy, spa, gym, sport, in addition to other annexes such as a mosque, a building for support services, a garage for ambulances and 297 parking spaces.

For his part, Eng Ahmed Al Mahmeed, project manager of Al Khor health center, said that all the works of the project are implemented according to local specifications and international standards, and that it has reached more than one a million and a half hours of work lost. time injuries so far, and that Ashghal provides all safety measures for the project workers.

He added, “Ashghal started implementing the work of the Al Khor Health Center project in October 2018 and all works are expected to be completed despite the challenges faced during the Corona pandemic.”

He continued, “As part of the government’s support for local products, nearly 60% of the materials used in the project will be sourced locally, including steel, power and mechanical tools, glass and other materials.

The services covered in the main building are as follows:

Ground floor:

Pharmacy (6 distribution points and stores)
General clinics (18 clinical rooms)
Women’s clinics (general clinic rooms, 2 maternity wards, 2 well-baby rooms)
Outpatient clinics (2 observation rooms, 2 treatment rooms, 2 blood collection rooms, biometric rooms, isolation room)
Radiology department (radiology room, mammography room, panoramic ray room, ultrasound room)
Prayer room for ladies

First floor:

Specialized clinics (2 ophthalmology clinics, 2 audiometry clinics, ENT).
Dental clinics (10 dental clinics, one dental study center)

Facilities for people with special needs

For his part, Eng. Sara Al Salhi, Ashghal Construction Projects Department, said the design of the project took into account the requirements of people with special needs, including signage, artwork and Braille script, comfortable restrooms, wide walkways facilitating movement, automatic detection doors and reception desks with heights in addition to parking spaces near the main entrances and ramps instead of steps.

Heritage and sustainability

The design of the buildings also reflects the heritage and culture of Qatar without compromising international fire safety standards, in addition to the 3-star rated GSAS environmental standard. Another important design feature of the architectural design of the health center is the inclusion of next-generation technologies in the field of medical equipment and GSAS, she added.

It should be mentioned that all the criteria have also been defined by the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS), as operational and architectural considerations have been taken to achieve a 3-star environmental level in terms of energy saving and preservation of the environment, in particular:

• Use of solar energy for water heating
• Use of natural sunlight through panoramic roof windows, allowing sunlight to save some electricity which is used in lighting and to disinfect the area.
• Rational water consumption inside and outside the building
• Growth of green spaces and landscapes around the facility.
• Preserve the surrounding environment during the implementation of the project

The new projects are in line with the realization of Qatar Vision 2030, which is the basis of the Ashghal strategy to provide integrated infrastructure and public services that serve all sectors of the country, especially the health sector, because Ashghal set up around 24 healthcare facilities between 2004 and 2021..
